Church Music

This is seriously one arty album. It's worth to pay extra if needed. Beside D: I guess I love DC*B as well. David Crowder is a nerd + geek. Good thing though, he is also a musician.

I love listening to albums as an album. I hate it when I have to shuffle between songs because frankly I am an OCD when it comes to music. I like listening to album as it is. Arranged according to it's tracklisting as the band wants you to hear. Let's put it this way. You won't want to read a chapter of a book and jump to another book read a chapter and jump to another book right? That is how it is with me and music.

The 1st time I heard Church Music I was hooked. It was like continuous all 76minutes of it. Track to Track. The last time they did this was in A-Collision where the album tells a whole story though David compared it to illuminate which is also quite accurate and it's like relating science to God and stuff in them which was pretty crazy.

Church Music isn't just any typical Church Music. It's full of electro rock as typical as DC*B is but more than that. It just tries to redefine Church Music.

The thing I like about DC*B is that he doesn't just write music for the sake of writing. He is a true artiste. The 1st half of the song all contains the statement 'being near to God', 'draw us nearer' In fact the the album start with the song call 'Phos Hilaron [Hail Gladdening Light]' which is like the oldest hymm that was ever in record that is still being sung today in old churches in which researchers say it is probably from the 2nd century.

The whole album is like a 'journey' sort. Think of it as reading a book, you won't get the full picture until you finish the whole book. You can't jump track either or else you'll get bits and pieces but not the whole story.

I have always wondered how they write songs which has been confirmed by this statement which I was right

Before we make a record, we sit down and make all the rules about it. We build an outline of what we want it to do, and then we follow the outline,” Crowder says. “That would be one of the structures that we followed, a traditional, orthodox church setting.
He is also word geek which probably plays boggle a lot haha. All the track thus far have been really quite creative and oh and check out this explanation about the song call 'Eastern Hymm'
we have reached the Middle Ages where the Pope has banned the tri-tone, the dreaded tri-tone - augmented fourth, diminished fifth - and declared it the Devil's interval. And in the chorus, granted you'd have to know music theory to catch most of the historical content but, the chorus sits on top of a tri-tone movement in the baseline, and it functions like a movement of four to five, but it's really an inversion of the five to four. It's a tri-tone.
I mean seriously. How can you not respect someone that goes that deep... into writing songs. Simply Genius. I have never encounter anyone that treats an album like a story book. It's just so abstract. You know.

There's a full lenghty interview which could get quite deep in Jesusfreakhideout.com I just love this album and it gotten a 5/5 for me I'd rate it 10/5!

All in all there's tons to unpack and everytime I hear them I'll unpack a little and it is just so rich as an album. It's like crazy.

In a semi-related note...

Because I listen to an album as a whole, it explains why I sometimes dislike certain artiste especially secular artiste. If I decide to follow a band, there must be a reason beyond musical taste. It has to be what they stand for... Sadly most of the artiste today stands for nothing but partying and sex.

it's not hard to find out what they stand for just listen to the entire album. you'll find out. Sometimes one song is nice doesn't mean they are nice. A classic example is Jason Mraz. I like his tune his singing and lyrics even but a listen through the album you'll find lyrics that are really 18sx max which is why I ditch his album as well.

Paranoid? yes. Reason? Standards.

KAME... HAME.... hahahahahahahahahaha

Can't believe I spend Rm7 to watch Dragonball instead of eating Mcdonald's lunch promo. I am not a hardcore fan but it is still something I grew up with so.

On a lighter note, this is not such a bad movie if watched without refering it to the movie. But they had too many cheezy lines. It so lame that I can't stand. Especially all the one liners. It is like I say one line, you reply one line and it is so wow its a big thing kind line.

Goku: I'm not ready for this.
Master Roshi: You are the only one who can do it.

Goku: We have to find the Dragon balls before the eclipse.

Roshi: The last level of Ki is the Kame..... hame... ha
Goku: Yeah. I've heard about it. My grandpa said I wasn't ready to learn
Roshi: Yeah you're not ready but we don't have much time.

I mean seriously the whole movie was like that. Just one lines of less than 15 words. And it is all so lame.

secondly this is the time where I wish I wasn't Chinese. In particular a Malaysian Chinese. All the names they used were like direct translation. Nevermind the direct translation but at least pronounce it like it is suppose to not like with English slang.

Words like...
'shixinzhu' (4 star ball)
'toi shan' (Tai Shan)
'Yam Cha' (some guy's name)
'Picolo' (This kept reminding me of the restaurant Piccolo Mondo)
'Ki' Yes that's qi in Chinese but they pronounce it KEY
'Long Shen' (Dragon God)
'Ma fo po'

I can go on and on and on but I got better things to do. Oh yes I don't know why they just can't name it just "DRAGONBALL" but have to name it Dragonball Evolution. Like seriously the term evolution is just so last century at least name it in your sequel or something. Oh wait... Then it will be name DRAGONBALL REVOLUTION. -_-" Let's see how many Hollywood movies have name their show with "Evolution"

"Underworld Evolution" (2006)
"X-Men: Evolution" (2000)
"The Evolution of 'Resident Evil': Bridge to Extinction" (2007)

I think Hollywood should stop taking Asian creation and make it into a movie. Stick to your own super hero movie. This is the same actor who acted in Forbidden Kingdom and that was as bad as well. Imagine this... JET LI is Spiderman or Jackie Chan is Superman. It is just wrong isn't it?

The creator of Watchmen is right.
“The main reason why comics can’t work as films is largely because everybody who is ultimately in control of the film industry is an accountant, these people may be able to add up and balance the books, but in every other area they are stupid and incompetent and don’t have any talent.” - Alan Moore

I couldn't agree more.

Autobots? Decepticons?

Verdict?

As a Hardcore fan = absolutely hate it (3.5 out of 10)
As someone who don't even know optimus prime exist before this (9 out of 10)

Yes people, I am split, I am torn in between the 2 worlds. Thankfully I went there as though I don't know what transformers is. Of course I know who they are. right so let's get to my review.

What I like
The animation, period

What I don't like
1) Decepticons absolutely looked horrible, like monsters... This is a robot show Micheal, not a scary flick! look at the sharp robots. WHAT DUDE ? You flimming alien vs Predetorbots??

2) Fyi kids.. yes kids. decepticons are suppose to be all flying objects, plane etc... not tanks, police cars...

3) Prime look horrible with that HOT ROD truck of his.

4) Soundwave became frenzy? DUDE! and that is absolutely irritating robot

5) Starscream suppose to hates megatron

6) Bumblebee = volkswagen beetle. not chevy....

7) Allsparks? huh make more robtots?

8) The list can go on but no one will understand what I meant... they ruin my small kid's cartoon booohooo.... and the toy will change? booohooo

So the end of the day, watch it with an open heart, assume that they just adopt the name transformers, not following the cartoon period.

Passion

What's your passion like?

Hmm, like Delirious, I have also 'grown' with Hillsong UNITED. And I have been their fan for 8 years now. That would mean since I was form 3. Wow.. How would I know it is already 8 years? well all of the above is their 8th album that's why I know!

ALL OF THE ABOVE is both good and bad to me.

The good, I can see them evolves, unlike planet shakers it is huge movement now, and their album is always evolving, different sound each album, much like d: That means I won't be bored and yea this album is like how d: evolved from TOUCH to WORLD SERVICE to MISSION BELL can you imagine? And I know they have been busy touring the world and more than that, making impacts in poor countries, doing mission works.

The bad, it helps me to see where are we now compare to them. I mean, hey, 8 years ago we're a small group, about 30-40 now, we're erm.... well let's not go there, if new people comes in and no old one lefts, we well, let's not go there also. Now their songs are so hard to sing, not because we can't sing it, not because the tone is such hard tone to sing, It is the lyrics, Everytime I hear SOLUTION, I can't help to wonder, are we ready for that? or are we still at step one / zero of it? huh?

One thing is for sure, they are dominating as some have experienced it in Audi 7 last night

"But right now, we're taking HOME to the WORLD" - Joel Houston

Watch the DVD, I HEART REVOLUTION, is it time for us to have another revolution? are we ready for it? We shall find out this Saturday.

Woah-oh-oh,
God be the solution
Woah-oh-oh
We will be Your hands and be Your feet.
Yeah, yeah

United Review

Good morning, this is one day after the concert that everyone is waiting for. I for one have been there not as anticipating, but excited to see them excited. I almost thought there is no way UNITED ever touch Malaysian soil. They did thanks to SIB proving me wrong.

I kinda doubted whether they'll just give us some kind of second team from united or something like that since we got it the last time when their Asian team came down. But I was again proven wrong when I stood beside a westerner in the Male toilet... then I look.. Joel Houston.. well I did not say anything. That was coz I was speechless when I saw his tattoo and they're just humans hahaha.

Ok so after all the mess and hustle and bustle before the concert, and few late comers and missing tickets later, My mood wasn't that good, but yea. they started with opening clip of and then the infamous.. INTERLUDE... went into THE TIME HAS COME... then Joel broke a string and then he has to get his guitar replace while they sang ONE WAY and off they went into WHAT THE WORLD WILL NEVER TAKE and finally slowed down on LOOK TO YOU... the keyboard then fade off slowly and the bass started coming in then Michelle Fragar started singing THE GREATEST LOVE.. and then they sang alot worship song I can't remember the sequence but they were very well merge.. over 5 albums. Insaneness

Then they paused after singing CAME TO MY RESCUE.. when Joel started preaching a little.. they were 'shocked' to see people are worshiping, which is one thing i don't like!! people seems to think that Malaysian is so outdated... but I guess that was changed last night at least in the eyes of United. And he encouraged us by saying that we are the ones who are going to change Asia... they went on singing a few more other songs and Pastor Chishann came up and just gave a very simple message about how Peter let down his net with the words of Jesus... and just a short one and they kept singing after that... just a short while later, He preached again... for a short time, and they change the song to FOREVER when Michelle started to sing again, it was a passing song, so that was so cool... then they sang HALLELUJAH then they ended with that slow song.

Well what do you know? more songs of course exploded into I forgot what song was that and off to TAKE IT ALL and the night 'came to an end' when they sang TELL THE WORLD. of course I am sure they rehearse a few more song so that they don't get caught when crowds go WE WANT MORE chant!!! and they came out and ALL DAY was heard from the bass... what a cool start! then they were out the lights were on and Joel goes.. they on the lights but we're not done yet...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo and off goes the crowd.. then they started play KING OF MAJESTY and then they came to solos.. and the bass was playing amazing grace haha effortless when he play the scales... well. they then move on to guitar and keyboard.. then joel is like... who wants to see JD do a solo.. JD was like.. what the... then of coz he did some crazy weird move dance hahaha so laughable... and a couple of dives and jumping later.. that's it.. the end. Joel ended with the prayer and everyone was blessed!!

Joel did say that they'll come back. though this is not the best concert I have seen, but it is a worshipful one with about 15 songs and more.. yes it is crazy about 2 and a half hours.. nonstop.
