Passion stops by Kuala Lumpur

By now you have already seen passion post in blogs everywhere and saying how good they are and all the nice things. The comments on 268 blog have grown to about 477 by the time I blogged about this. For me it is not about the concert, music that gets me like crazy (although I may have different opinion on Charlie Hall) But rather the movement of Passion how they trying to unite the world by them bringing people together like praying for the next city, giving to the next city, using Podcast and blogs to use as a tool. All these = awesome way of ministry don't you think so?

Anyhow, Here are pictures I have taken during the events. Gosh I am loving the pictures from my camera. It so much better than my PNS This is the 1st time I am posting lengthy pictures taken with the alpha 300. Due to not much movements and this is not a total rock concert, I only taken a few and being stop by secu alot of times (biasa la)

We start lining up as soon as 2:50 and this is like us ramping infront of digital mall. The stupid It center (selling macs) decided to pump up the music volume really loud. Sadly, not a single soul was interested. Kinda like the lights on this photo

And once they open the 1st gate, everyone was queing up for the 2nd gate to be open. This is the gang back there waiting anxiously. It was seriously packed like sardin in that area. Well concert mar what you expect.

We had some visitors to where we sat.

I am not going through all the details as you all already know it so... Towards the ending of Charlie Hall, I decided and took out my camera to start shooting because his charisma is just too strong already. He was singing "We are Yours"

Charlie Hall and band. I had to crank that up to ISO 3200 but it still looked good I suppose.

Louie Gig came up after that to preach so yea I did not take photos then. And it quickly resume back to Chris Tomlin and I know that is my last chance so I walked and bump through a lot of poeple, get to the center of the front mosh pit and started shooting throughout

I stood somewhere here. Some how I wish I had a zoom lens, but no matter I somehow got to very front of stage

Yellow and blue lights are the best concert lights ever invented. haha

Ah failed effect but still looks good la. I took a couple of pics like this but it is just too shaky without the tripod. But nonetheless it is nice eh?

Joash's Hero Daniel Carson. I think he is the only one that went high on rocking that night. Very awesome. I usually hate to capture red light on camera but this turns out to be a good effect too. Creepy

Louie G then come did a podcast there and I'm glad I had him on picture too. Nice

The night ended, Once again I met Chen Fei and we snap a pic together before we took off...

Oh Sandra was saying that I am on my way to become a Paparazzi. That maybe true because I am extremely glad to let you know that...

Louie G wears a converse... A shiny one. True man wear converse. Ok enough. Stop. End.

Ok for more pics, visit facebook. Hope to add it later on. I want to finish my Sabah video which had been delayed for a long time.

United in KL (again)

It will not be fair if I did not blog about united (right) I know some of you rather me keeping quiet rather than writing Haha. To be honest this is rather a very hard article to write because of various aspect and I hope I can cover them all.

Well after my last review about united concert which they played on the 24th of Nov 2006, I have to follow up with the reviews since this is the 2nd time watching them play. This post is not meant to start a debate whether who loves them and do I love them or not. It is purely what I think of United.

*Disclaimer - John does not anti or hate Hillsong or United.

In fact, the 1st thing I did when I arrived was to go to their merchandise counter and see if they sell "In the valley by the sea" EP CD. Simply because I love the album.

United is still very good in composing music and also performing them and definitely a huge blessing to the Christian industry musically. I mean who hasn't sang Hillsong before? Even American Idol sang them. just that, too much of it damages musical genes. Just like too much BN is harming the country.

So yea again I resort to stand at the back of the hall simply because there is plenty of things you can learn from the whole band rather than just looking at one. Though many would probably label me anti social XD. They stood right in front squeezing with everyone else.

Its a Sad thing that Matt Tennikoff and JD, Michelle did not make it to the band this time around but the rest of the members are the same I guess. I don't have much impression on their band accept a few. I don't even know who's the drummer.

On overall of the essence of "LIVE"
Well, I have always say that HILLSONG is too clean though they always have the "LIVE" word up in their album. Truth is can one play that perfect mistakeless? Yes such exist and they are Hillsong. They must have practice like thousands of times for a song. For me a Live music concert should draw some creative energy and Hillsong is still lacking of that. There is no room to expand, and get wild. Everyone must follow the book. Maybe they don't intent to go that way? Never know.

On Predictability
And I've said it enough that you pay the ticket to go and hear the album and I was right. Everything was how it suppose to be. They do follow the book and guess I must have read the book too much. My prediction was half right half wrong. I predicted that they will start with Introduction and go to time has come (When I said that I was only 10% sure) And guess what I was right. The only thing wrong was that I predicted Break Free to be at Encore but they sang it 2nd.

And guess everything was according to the CD sure they have modded some stuff but still It is out in their new "LIVE" album right up to closing song and also the prayer. To be honest I've got nothing against that. I mean Delirious plays the same stuff and do the same stuff just that they don't do it EVERY YEAR!

On Element of surprise
Me and Toefl agreed that the best song they did was "My Healer" by Planet Shakers. Why? Because that was a surprise moved and I gladly welcome that. I mean I love it when you think ok they are going to do this song next and then they go like "Nope we're going this way... GOTCHA" and that therefore deserves a credit.

On Whatever
Ooooooo I love the lights this time though it wasn't that perfect but hack the lights were good in control! Great guy handling it. And you all know that I absolutely dislike GT sound man because they are so urght! Thankfully they used their own personell. Great SOUNDED EXPLOSIVELY good. Of course like any other snobbishy band, no pictures of the band were allowed to be taken by individual. And I give GT the credit that they manage to kept that at minimum and I got caught twice LOL. Oh well.

CONCLUSION!
Ok. This is a make or break concert for me. It decides whether I will attend another one and my answer is... NO and I highly think that the 1st time they came was so much better and more energy till the end. You can compare the songs below with the songs they sung the 1st time round

1. Introduction - Time has come
2. Break Free
3. Take it All
4. My Future Decided
5. Mighty to Save
6. Hosanna
7. Chains be broken *bit*
8. The Stand

Read a passage from Isaiah 53: 3-5 talk about Mike Guglimucci of Planet Shakers who was diagnosed with bone cancer last year and he wrote a song

9. My Healer
10. Shout unto God

Short preaching and salvation call. quite some people responded. Good.

11. Lead me to the Cross
12. All I need is You
13. None but Jesus
14. From the Inside Out
15. Saviour King
16. Salvation is Here
17. What the World will Never Take
18. Tell The World
19. One Way
20. Solution

So there you have it 20 song and again I would say... THAT IS A MONSTER HUGE set of list

Switchfoot Live in KL

Ok Continue the Switchfoot concert. I am thrilled to hear that when they were coming. I went and bought the ticket without blinking my eye. I have been listening to them probably since 7 years ago before they broke into mainstream and made famous by the Spidey2 theme song "Meant to Live", Their album Learning to breathe was the 2nd CD in my collection.
I
n their songs, Christian message are usually very subtle and with "isi tersirat." You won't find the whole album with it. But what I like is Jon Foreman the lead single have various EP projects and I am glad he still kept his faith intact. This time, Switchfoot came as a mainstream band as they always are more mainstream than Christian. Thanks to 8TV, Fly FM....

Ok Pictures! Forgive the camera, due to darkness, I had to increase ISO and Digital zoom = Watercolor effect. I need an DSLR sigh. The pictures are in no specify order as to the event. It is just I think some of the best shot I can made out of the situation

One of the clearest photo.. hehe. By the way if you're wondering why the lead singer is so focus is because they had this white spot light on him all the time and he's wearing white

This was one of the cool thing Jon Foreman did, singing/shouting into the guitar. With his effects pedal on, you can hear his voice through the guitar.

The bassist, which is also the lead singer's younger brother

The multi talent guy (he plays percussion, electric guitar, keyboard, special effects and sings) and the super chun and humble electric guitarist

Really too far for me to capture, but I did my best

My favourite picture can? This is really a nice shot, he was doing "Awakening" as I can remember. ;)

Learning to Breathe - the song that introduced me to switchfoot. Look at the effects of the lights in all the videos also enuff di!

Hello, good morning, how ya do?
What makes your rising sun so new?
I could use a fresh beginning too
All of my regrets are nothing new

So this is the way
that I say that I need You
This is the way
This is the way

Hello, good morning, how ya been?
Yesterday left my head kicked in
I never thought I could fall like that
Never knew that I could hurt this bad

I'm learning to breathe
I'm learning to crawl
I'm finding that You and
You alone can break my fall
I'm living again, awake and alive
I'm dying to breathe in these abundant skies

So this is the way
that I say that I need You
This is the way
That I say I love You
This is the way
That I say I'm Yours
This is the way
This is the way

Other songs worth checking

Stars - Opening song
Gone - The lights pretty good in this and the end is very nice to watch

Switchfoot live in KL

Finally got a bit mood after a long tiring weekend of activities to edit and upload the concert pictures. Well I am going to do it in parts as I find smashpop concept pretty chun HEHE. Anyway cut to the chase!

How was switchfoot? AWESOME! Now I left church fairly early, caught in jam, almost went to accident because proton and stupid brake and malaysian stupid highway that caught puddles of waters. I manage to arrive KLCC at 6:30 Just in time for this

Well it wasn't half as bad as Delirious in Singapore. When I got there the line was moving already kewl.

Then I caught this sticking out (sorry for the blur, forgive me camera)

They stick a ridiculously small attention there. "recording device are not allow, they will register it upon entrance" Looks like I might not want to sell my camera off for the sake of sneaking it in situations like this heeeee :)

Everyone went through without their recording device but my water was taken :(

I paid RM123 for these :(

Since I was alone so... I got nothing else to do but observe people lor

They seems like knowing what to do before concert

Whoa uncle & aunty, radical 99 la you... ji lei si rock band ler haha

Er this one I really no clue, are they hardcore fans or just regular board maker? Know how to spell swiTch or not?

Then we wait and wait and wait and finally~ lights off! WOOOOO and They go WOOOOOO

LOVE ME BUTCH came out 1st. Though I don't know their song, but I really felt like butchering them up! they are some heavy metal ada gaya ada mutu tapi crowd tak on ni, Plus the sound man dah la teruk, can't hear anything they scream. So yea it sounds like the picture la.

Just then a security guard kept blocking my camera and ask me to shut it off. And he eyed on me constantly so that I don't take any pictures. So what to do SWITCH OFF or SWITCH place lor...

Altered Frequency, seems like can't live without them... they have better crowd puling skills and really rock betta than LOVE ME BUTCH. But still the crowd were bored and can't wait to turn on the
