Alright. Sorry for not updating... Been sick and quite busily running around @_@

See I got picture proof that I did reach KM 8 and was half dying.

The image behind the RM1 note...

We took another photo while we're at the foothill with our guide Felix... Yea we were all tad tired. So yes we went back at about 9pm then we ate seafood which my T2 battery died Haha (of course la shoot video sure die la)

Next morning, we woke up pretty late and wait for joe who was pretty late... We watch TV at our guest house and then we went here for breakfast. Aiya too many food to post so I just pose one la k

Tada... Taste quite good also...

we then went to Sutera Harbor and gotten ourselves ticketes to Manukan Island and did some snokerling with the jelly fishes. Haha SYOK! This is my 1st time Snokerlling btw. Even though the corals are X_X

K la didn't take snorkelling pics because they want to just go swim and not take picture -.-

Mau balik only want take...

Oh yea! I must superpoke something but I failed. I think the Island is Sayat Sayat

Then we Jalan Jalan around town then hop on the plane back di. This is the philipino market. Byk benda to eat here. Come here to eat their big big fresh fresh prawns and crabs very cheap also. Haha. Blessed la people in Sabah!

Anyway... there done! Let's go Bali next...

The climb - What goes up must.....

Alright here is the final part of the climb. I will be finishing off the Sabah post. (I think 2 more post) within these few days. Been dragging this too long di... sorry. Anyway, this is not to be missed. This is the best episode of all time IMHO esp the 2nd part of the journey hehe...

The Climb - Part 2

This is the continuation of the climb. Well again, the host would be ME. Ok I know some of you are sick of watching me. I told you that you'll get annoyed by me. Well this is not an episode where I reached the top but rather what we did in Laban Rata.

Edit: Ah didn't realize the video is distorted. I will upload another one like soon. And just for those who had watched the entire thing, The last part is absolutely recorded. It is recorded over time span of 10 minutes and not from youtube or whatsoever. Honest.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3

Sabah: The Climb

Finally! got it done, compressed rendered etc making me work late nights. Yet I still can't seems to get the whole idea of H.264 encoding so gotta live with mpg. Anyhow... The climb!

Warning 1: Watch only if you have 18:47 minutes of spare time
Warning 2: You'll most likely get annoyed by me (as I am pretty annoyed at myself)
Warning 3: It might be a little sluggish to load the vid (hope not)

*Disclaimer*
Some parts of the videos are very choppy because I am not a videographer by nature and I have no patience to edit them. This is as raw as it gets. Some of the clips are just taken to show you the terrain and surroundings. If you plan to climb it, and don't want any spoilers, do not watch!

The Super models Porters of Kinabalu

edit: opps porters not portals (they don't open like gate... although, that can be argued). I am too lazy to change the text in the photos for now. Thanks GG

Ok The climb. Yes the climb. I don't really want to post photos on it because I think it is better in video and yes it is usually slow when I had to work on it. So I shall post about this 1st.

You see, Mount KK isn't really like a comfortable place to access to like Genting Highlands. Climbers will have to make a stop at "Laban Rata" before continuing the journey to the peak the very next morning. And "Laban Rata" is 6KM from the beginning of the trail.

And no, the place is not like camping tents or some poorly maintain place. I am very surprise that the level of complexity of that place. Sure it is basic design but it is very well maintain unlike many resorts in KL.

They have like computers of course for their own usage, huge kitchen area with chefs (almost like Teppanyaki setup) and what nots. They even had electronic LEDs to tell you the temperature which totally left me stupefied. I thought it would be just erm... thermometer.

This (comfort) however, did not appear out of nowhere. A helicopter trip would cost Rm13k per trip. So the company decided that using porters are cheaper since there are people willing to work. And so everything was carried up via porters. Let me introduce to you the super porters!

Ok. this is the easiest job actually, carrying bags. The guy on the right is Felix. He is our mountain guide as well. However because of the shortage of portal, he carried our bag which is like about 15KG. Check out his foot ware.

This is the 1st portal I talked to on the way up.

Me: Bang ni berapa KG?
Him: Ni, lebih kurang 50KG.
Me: 50? Berat tu
Him: Ah boleh la. Perlahan lahan sampai

Yes. Well, he is more than 50 years old. I guessing he had been carrying things for more than 30 years. This is totally insane. needless to say, he reached before we did -.-

Yes we do need gas for cooking, and using it for the heater. I know this is nothing compared to 50KG but still try carrying it and see!

This is interesting. Because the wires are too long so they actually split it to 4 person. Like train. One stop all have to stop.

Yep that should be the roof I assume. Man do they need to carry every single thing???

I suppose so...

Regretfully, there are more porters which I did not photograph because after a while, you just look at them stupefied. There you are. Why you paying so much to climb the mountain? It is because these people depend on you for income. I don't think they are paid well by the way.

Oh yea our guide, Felix, and most of the portal and guides, after bringing us up to Laban Rata, goes back down. They do not stay in Laban Rata because it cost them a whoopoing amount of RM15...... O_o???? The best part is, he has to be back at Laban Rata at 2.30am the next morning. I rather pay the Rm15. But of course these people are speedy gonzales. And probably this mountain is like Bukit Gasing to them. Hah!

Sabah night life

Wait! Sabah no night life one... or so we thought.

Wait! Christine isn't flying...

Ok we were really bored at the airport. I got my pink gay shirt and joe has got his gay bag throughout the trip. What to do? pose with it lor.

I miss flying in the day. I have been flying at night for a long time already and I miss the time where looking out and seeing clouds. Ok ok flying at night cheaper...

And so we reached Sabah @ i guess was close to 1am when we checked out and as soon as we did, Joe's mom came and picked us up. Joe then drove it to a nearby beach in look for food. But we found NOTHING so we took some photos

The beach really call beach1 got beach2 and beach3 which we did not take

Anyway, we drove around in look for food and decided to not eat them because everywhere is close by now... or so we thought... We finally pass by some shop with a lot people and decided to stop there for food. It is like our mamak filled with people...

It is a chinese shop famous for porridge!!! yep and that's what we ate for supper. Actually everyone pretty much liked it in Sabah I guess because the place is packed at 1:30am

We ordered chicken and fish porridge but I guess there is no point showing both as they both look the same XD however the taste is really different and yes it is delicious

Confirm delicious because it is so delicious that Jennifer is smiling at her porridge? I bet she'll argue that she'll only eat porridge in Sabah at How Lee

So after that we just went to our hostel and check in. This is the 1st time I am staying in backpackers lodge. I have never backpack before though I always wanted to.

The place is really different from what I thought it will be. In fact, it is nice (at least the lobby is) with free computer and internet wifi... A few angmos are there drinking beer while watching national geography channel? OKOK but this place reminds me of bali kinda feel.

We then settle in at 2AM. This is me and Aaron's room.

It is very noisy at night and sleep is hard to come by. Main road + racers + hollow building + cement floors = bad sound acoustic. Nevertheless we manage to catch some sleep till the next day.
